Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory is located at the restored Junee Flour Mill, a historically rich landmark in the rural township of Junee, New South Wales.<\/p>

The Factory produces a rapidly growing range of innovative, certified organic confectionaries increasingly being found in shops around Australia and overseas.<\/p>

Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory is operated by Green Grove Organics, a family operated farm based enterprise that has been practicing organic farming since 1962. Green Grove holds Level \u201cA\u201d Organic Certification through the BFA (Biological Farmers Association of Australia, P225).<\/p>

The Green Grove Farm<\/strong><\/p>

The \u201cGreen Grove\u201d farm is a 1100 hectare property situated near Ardlethan, in the magnificent and fertile Riverina region of New South Wales. The farm has been owned by the Druce family since 1918.<\/p>

In 1962, the current owner Alan Druce, became concerned about pollution in the food chain. He set about taking steps toward pure food production by eliminating harmful sprays, artificial fertilisers and other \u201cmodern day\u201d farming practices designed to \u201cenhance\u201d farm production, becoming in the process one of the pioneers of organic farming in Australia.<\/p>

This method of farming is based on the nurturing of the whole farm ecology, and treating it as an incredibly intricate, interdependent and fragile system that needs to be understood and cared for. The Green Grove logo, the hand, soil and grain, depicts farmers being caretakers of the ecology, to produce food.<\/p>

Since 1987 \u201cGreen Grove\u201d has had an association with the Australian National University (ANU) and is almost constantly being monitored and compared with conventional farming. The results of these tests are regarded as significant, sometime astonishing, to the point of \u201cGreen Grove\u201d being regarded as one of the premier organic test cases in Australia, and indeed the world.<\/p>

In July of 1998 the \u201cGreen Grove\u201d site was presented at the 7th International Conference of Ecology in Florence, Italy as a significant organic test site.<\/p>

Today the Druce family, the fourth generation on \u201cGreen Grove\u201d, enjoy the results of a long-standing organic conversion, and continue to seek ways and methods of better food production.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/details>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

Monte Cristo Homestead<\/b>\u00a0is a historic\u00a0Australian<\/a>\u00a0property located in the town of\u00a0Junee, New South Wales<\/a>. Constructed by local pioneer Christopher William Crawley in 1885,[1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0it is a double-story late-Victorian<\/a>\u00a0manor<\/a>\u00a0standing on a hill overlooking the town.<\/p>

The Crawley family remained in residence until 1948. The house then stood empty under the care of several caretakers until 1963 when it was purchased by Reg and Olive Ryan, who restored it to its current condition. It operates as a museum, antique store and tourist attraction, advertising itself as \u201cAustralia\u2019s most\u00a0haunted house<\/a>\u201c.[2]<\/a><\/sup>[3]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>

Monte Cristo has been featured in television shows such as\u00a0A Big Country<\/a><\/i>\u00a0in 1977, the travel show\u00a0Getaway<\/a><\/i>\u00a0in 1992, the\u00a0paranormal<\/a>\u00a0based game\/reality show\u00a0Scream Test<\/a><\/i>\u00a0in 2000, and\u00a0Ghost Hunters International<\/a><\/i>\u00a014 January 2010. It was also the focus of the 2012 mockumentary horror film \u201cMuirhouse\u201d<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/details>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

Junee Gold Trails<\/strong><\/p>

In an extraordinary period from 1851 onwards, people rushed to make their fortunes on a series of goldfields that were discovered in NSW.<\/div>

Junee was an outpost in NSW goldmining when it first came to public prominence in 1868. At that time the block of country north of Gundagai and east of Young was blank on the gold map of NSW.<\/p>

This was actualy an error as there were very significant gold reserves across this region waiting to be discovered.<\/p>

The Junee Golf Club has one of the Riverina\u2019s most interesting and challenging 18 hole, 72 par golf courses. Club selection is vitally important on most holes as there are a couple with out of bounds. Even though there are no bunkers, other hazards await the unwary golfer. Holes range from the 519 metre par 5 third with a slight dog-leg left, to the short par 3 eighth from an elevated tee to a green below protected in front by a dry creek bed. A course suited to both the average and longer hitters, although accuracy is needed by all golfers. A great course for a social hit or a competition round.<\/p><\/div>

The electrical fit out and installation of feature lights were the last stages in the construction of the jetty on Park Dam.\u00a0<\/p>

Its completion represents one of the last pieces of the jigsaw in the revitalisation of Park Dam; a project that commenced following concerns about the stability of the Council\u2019s pump shed after European Carp had eroded the bank beneath it.<\/p>

Along with the de-silting and bank stabilisation works, the construction of the jetty has vastly improved the amenity of the area and, following the completion of the landscaping and path extension, it will also provide a much more accessible and safe facility for the young, infirm and disabled.<\/p>

Anglers young and old will also be delighted to hear that along with a terrific new fishing platform, Fisheries NSW will also be conducting annual stocking of Murray cod and golden perch at Park Dam. Anglers are reminded that all the regulations for recreational fishing in enclosed waters apply and Fisheries Officers may conduct spot checks to ensure compliance with the regulations. Park Dam is now on the State stocking register which means we should see an annual top-up of both Murray Cod and Golden Perch (aka Yellow Belly) by the Department of Primary Industries.<\/p>
